    Close Multiple taskbar items

    You know what happens – you open URL after URL and the Taskbar begins to look like a sheet of postage stamps. I can be irritating to have to close each one seperatly so here is a quick ‘Tiny Tip.

    To close multiple folders and application on the Taskbar items in one go hold down the control key while double clicking on each one in turn, Now right click one of them and select Close Group.

    Doing the right thing at the wrong time

    Doing the wrong thing at the right time.

    So how can you get stuff done on time when  it sometimes seems sooooo complicated, how do you remember what to do and when?

    ‘Click’ the BBC Flagship Technology Program roots out really interesting application and presenter Kate Russell found this one – Nozbe –  to help get you organised.

    Now this might come as a surprise to some but I am not the most organised person in the world (Not a surprise to my wife Bee of course or my Mum – they know!).  More organised means more sales and more sales equals more profit so naturally I wanted to know more about anything which helps me smooth out my working methods.

    I downloaded it – no problem there and there are good videos to get you up and off the mark straight away.

    I am starting a new e marketing project today and I am going to track it on Nozbe so I spent a half hour finding my way around. Basically it is a productivity application acting as a virtual secretary or personal assistant prompting and reminding you what to do and when. That’s just what I need to keep me focused.

    You can quickly and easily make lists of tasks, and group all the information you need – like phone numbers, notes and even pictures – all neatly stored together.

    I say a business plan is something you wake up every morning and change but no problem Nozbe makes that easy, once you have a project set up it is easy add new actions to it whenever the spirit takes you. So this plan keeps the creative juices running and all your projects easily accessible in your inbox.

    Great news! There is a Free version available for us lonely e marketers which enables us to have full capability for, up to five projects, five sections and 1MB storage but you will soon outgrow that and premium subscriptions offer more  .

    One thing to wish for – at the moment you cannot make your own custom sections so you will be shoehorning everything into a few pre-defined actions but everything internet changes day by day and they say there are plans to change this – which will be a great move forward.

  • How do you cancel a contract or a domain on 1&1?

    I have all my domains on automatic renewal – it really helps to make sure that you keep hold of them.

    Ttoday I was reminded that my domain stopsmokingcentre.biz. is due for renewal. That was a domain I purchased  stop smoking business but my on line site www.stopsmokingsuccess.com 1&1 helpfully e mailed me a month before the renewal date.  It seemed like a good idea at the time I set it up but two years later I want to cancel it because I just haven’t used it and I know I never will. So I am going to cancel it but how do you cancel a contract or a domain on 1&1? Well they certainly don’t make it easy thats for sure!

    I get on well with 1&1 and have 26 or so domains registered with them. Of course I could keep it, it doesn’t cost a lot – or I could sell it, f it were a red hot domain name I would, but I don’t own the .com and the english spelling of centre probably means it it isn’t worth hanging on to.

    So how do you do it? – the instruction is well hidden away in the Help (FAQ) and Contract section for which there is a link on the banner and the Account tab so if you want to follow a paper chase start there (or you could go to the short cuts  below – it will save time.

    Click FAQ on left side panel

    Then click on the Launch FAQ’s button

    Then search for ‘delete a domain name’

    Note your Auth code if you are moving the domain elsewhere ‘OK’

    Check details and Press ‘Finish’

    BUT IT DOESN’T END THERE!

    You will get two emails from 1&1, one saying sorry you are leaving and another with a website link to activate the cancellation. YOU MUST RESPOND TO THE SECOND ONE.

    Your cancellation will not be completed until you have confirmed the cancellation request by following the special link emailed to you. If you do not activate your cancellation request within the next 7 days, your cancellation request will be discarded and your contract will remain active.

    Of course I would be very upset if it was too easy to cancel my domains – my competitors might decide to ‘help’ me by cancelling them for me! So thank you 1&1 for my timely reminder, I have had excellent service from them and the telephone helpdesk is quick patient and efficient. I can recommend them Have a look for yourself here

    Today though a dozen or so of Mike and Karen’s friends enjoyed idyllic weather and I met Roland, a Mortgage Advisor.   • Your e mail Signature is your Fortune | How to Use Your Signature to Promote Your Business

    E mail signatures (those few lines under your e mail or posting describing you and your business)  are said to be the most effective way of promoting your goods and services when used with your e mail provider on social marketing sites and within an autoresponder.  But how is that done?

    Internet Marketing Virgin is test driving Mike Dillard’s Magnetic Sponsoring products which are designed to find distributors for MLM companies using low cost Internet marketing methods.

     In the of Magnetic Sponsoring getting started section Mike offers advice about content and we recently published a blog on that subject see “How to use your e mail signature to promote Magnetic Sponsoring” below, but newbies might find setting up a signature series a bit of a challenge.

     Is it Better to receive and send your mail in Outlook or Gmail?

     I only used Outlook until last year but then I discovered Google Mail and now I find I use g mail all the time. I like it.

    G Mail is easier to use on the move, has a faster and more accurate search facility, a labels system which is far easier that the outlook folder system, a simpler rules and filters interface, better spam filtering, and best of all huge free storage space. BUT there are a couple of flaws.

    I have a number of businesses and the signature for one business is not always appropriate for another. In Outlook you can add as many signatures as you like and select the one you wish to use for a particular e mail but in G Mail there is only provision for creating only one.  You can get over this using g mail ‘Canned Responses’ but it is a bit clumsy. A proper multi signature system would be better.

     It is possible to access G Mail using Mozilla Firefox and then download a Plug In from  http://www.wisestamp.com  however if you are an Outlook user it might be better to carry on using a system you are familiar with rather than be distracted by learning something new when time is of the essence.

    That’s what I am doing, cutting out time wasting learning of new systems ands using the tools I have.

     The procedure for entering signatures is in Outlook is straight forward.

     Create or modify e-mail signatures in Outlook

    There are few better ways to spread the word about your business than a well crafted e mail signature

    An e-mail signature consists of text or pictures, or both. If you choose to create and use a signature, Microsoft Outlook automatically adds it to your outgoing e-mail messages.

    Create and use signatures

     You can create custom signatures for different purposes.

    1. In Microsoft Word, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the General tab.
    2. Click E-mail Options, and then click the E-mail Signature tab.
    3. In the Type the title of your e-mail signature or choose from the list box, type a name for your signature.
    4. Under Create your e-mail signature, insert the text or pictures, or both, that you want to use for a signature. Use the formatting tools to apply formatting to your text.
    5. Click Add.

    To create another signature, click New, and then repeat steps 3 through 5.

    Set or change the default signature

    1. In Microsoft Word, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the General tab.
    2. Click E-mail Options, and then click the E-mail Signature tab.
    3. If you use more than one e-mail account in Microsoft Outlook, select the account for this signature in the Select the signatures associated with box.
    4. Do one or more of the following:
      1. In the Signature for new messages list, click the signature you want.
      2. In the Signature for replies and forwards list, click the signature you want.

    Add a signature to a single e-mail message

    If Word is your e-mail editor and you want to add a signature to only one message, you can manually insert it.

    1. In the e-mail message, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the General tab.
    2. Click E-mail Options, and then click the E-mail Signature tab.
    3. In the Type the title of your e-mail signature or choose from the list box, click the name of the e-mail signature you want to use. Under Create your e-mail signature, select the signature text you want to add to your e-mail message, and then press CTRL+C.
    4. Click Close, and then click Cancel.
    5. In the e-mail message, place your cursor where you want the signature to appear, and then press CTRL+V.

     Note   The signature will not automatically appear in all new e-mail messages.

    Select the most suitable signature for the e mail you are sending

    If you have defined more than one signature, you can switch between them.

    1. In the e-mail message, right-click the existing signature.
    2. Select the name of the signature that you want to use.

    Just Choose the most appropriate for the e mail you are sending.

  • How to use your e mail signature to promote Magnetic Sponsoring

    Mike Dillard’s Magnetic Sponsoring is based on his Funded Proposition where the funds needed to advertise for recruitment to a network marketing (MLM) business are generated by selling his digital training products. But how good are they? He says that adding a promotion for one of the Magnetic Sponsoring products capture pages to your e mail signature or autoresponder messages is an extremely effectiveway to promote your business.

    “It is one of the most important ways of kicking off  your plan to self fund  the building of an effective network marketing team. And it’s FREE so don’t skip it!. Adding a Magnetic Sponsoring signature line to all of your personal e-mails (it doesn’t matter which one, just pick your favorite) and autoresponder e-mails will generate free traffic and more affiliate commissions.”  Lets test that.

     I have been using my signature to promote my web sites and businesses for some time now and so far as I am aware my messages haven’t caused a shower of prospects so I thought, if e mail signatures are so effective, what I am doing wrong?

    Well I have researched and I have learned and if you have an old e mail from me you will know! I have loaded up my signatures with descriptions and lists for everything that’s my mistake. This is one case where less is more.

     Mikes suggested signatures for the various magnetic sponsoring products are below. They work wonderfully for him, are quite brief and he suggests that you feel free to mix and match your favorite lines to make your own version.

    Customizing your Signatures – What do you want your reader to do?

    When creating a promotional email signature, first you have to figure out how you want the reader to react. Do you want him/her to visit your web site, to purchase your products, or to subscribe to your blog perhaps?

    Maybe you even want to create several signatures for different reasons: One to promote your newsletter, one that links to your blog or web site, one that fits the signature rules of your favorite discussion list, and so on.

    Once you have decided on the goal of your signature, you can go on and create your email signature. It is best to use a real simple text editor to create your first signature, such as Notepad. Notepad is easier to transfer to your mail server than Word.  I recommend creating a text file that contains all your signatures. Then it is easy to find a specific signature when you need it, and when you create a new one, you do not have to start from the scratch but modify an existing signature.

    Your signature always starts with a greeting and your own name. Depending on the audience, you can also include your title and company name. However, I do recommend that you do not include your phone and fax numbers, at least not in promotional signatures and remember KISS – (Keep It Simple Stupid!)

    Recognize the Opportunity that e mail signatures offer
    it is generally acknowledged that email signatures are one of the best selling tools internet marketers have. Think about it, how many emails do you send out on a daily, weekly or monthly basis? Every email you send out is a chance to sell yourself and your product or services. Don’t waste it!

    Now that you recognize the opportunity, how do you write an effective one? How long should it be? What do you say? Following is a step-by-step method to writing an effective email signature to bring in sales.

     1.                 Step 1 – Link to Your Profile – Who is the I M Virgin?
    Effective email signatures often link to an online profile. This is one of the best uses of this space. And, all it takes is a simple line, here’s mine “To learn more about me, please visit my online profile http://www.ecademy.com/account.php?id=192655.” That also links to my ecademy.com page, a great source of internetworking. 

     2.                 Step 2 – Link to Other Websites – But only the ones that matter.
    Many business builders and online marketers have several domains that showcase their various specialties and interests. For example, Bee and I have a primary site that we’ve had for years. It’s an information portal about hypnosis, life coaching and publishes articles about how the mind works www.thelifedesignstudio.com I have two other sites as well, one dedicated to health wealth and happiness for the over 50’s www.50pluslifedesign.com , and another to the helping people stop smoking www.stopsmokingconsultants.com . One www.yummychoc4health is a portal to my healthy chocolate business, four separate sites for three branches of my business.

    Remember KISS (Keep  It Simple Stupid) You cannot write an effective email signature that covers all of this, it just causes confusion.  Instead list those details in your profile and send your reader there to satisfy their curiosity. For business building I include the address for the capture page which I want the prospect to click on and my blog www.internetmarketingvirgin.com which has articles which reinforce the value of my proposition.

    You may need more than one   Effective signatures will target a specific market to take a specific action which is why you may need a number of different signatures and ways to attach then easily.

     3.                 Step 3 – Link to Products and/or Services You Sell or Promote
    This is of course the main point an effective email signature can and should include links to products or services you sell or promote. Consider a  p.s.. (post script)statement says, “p.s..: Want to learn more about my business proposition? Click here for more details.” The “here” is hyperlinked to the sales page for my business (in this case www.yummychoc4health.com )

     4.                 Step 4 – Leave it out! – What NOT to Put in Your Signature
    Forget the cute, inspirational or poetic phrases in your email signature. Unless you’re a comedian with a “Joke a Day” site, you’re just wasting precious ad space.
    Making a living as a freelance writer and/or an internet marketer is hard enough. Why give away ad space.

     5.                 Step 5 – Make them an offer they can’t refuse

    Offer a reason why they should contact you now, to get an offer or a gift. If you have written an effective article or post, suggest an additional resource you could provide to them, or a way you could help them. Make sure they know how to quickly request this additional help.

    Don’t let one more day go by without taking a moment to create an effective email signature. It can take less than two minutes to set up, and is perhaps the most cost-effective online marketing you can do. After all, it’s free!

    Then Test Test and Test again – Overall, while there are no hard and fast rules regarding your signature file, there are some guidelines. Your “sig” in your everyday emails might be shorter – not containing each of the items above, while sigs for your articles or posts or sales letters may be longer. Use your good judgment, use this list of guidelines, and experiment to find what works best for you.
